Lucinda Sly
A Play by John MacKenna

Lucinda Sly, the story of a woman hanged. Written by John MacKenna.
Lucinda Sly is a full length play based on the life and death of the last woman to
have been publicly hanged in Ireland. The play was toured nationally by Mend &
Makedo Theatre Co in 2015 and 2016. With a cast of eight to ten people (four/five
male; four/five female), the play is set in County Carlow in the nineteenth century
and is intended for an adult audience.
Lucinda Sly is a story of land, love, religion betrayal and murder.
…there is grit to the play that tells this imagined version of a real story well and
directly, that is both affecting and disturbing…
