The Forgotten

The Forgotten is a deeply moving work by Gerard Whelan, capturing the lives of the men and women of the parish of Castledermot who fought and, in many cases, died in the Great War. It also explores the new Ireland which awaited these men and women on their return to an independent country where their service was at best ignored and at worst disparaged.  The book is a powerful evocation of the lives and deaths of these forgotten people.
